Vehicle thefts

We are seeing an increase in motorhome thefts across North West Leicestershire during January. We are asking owners to remain vigilant and to take additional steps to protect their vehicles.

✅ Crime Prevention Advice

Motorhomes are often targeted due to their value and size, but simple measures can significantly reduce the risk:

Always lock your motorhome and ensure all doors, windows, and storage lockers are secure.

Use additional security such as steering wheel locks, pedal locks, or wheel clamps.

Fit a tracking device if possible, and ensure it is registered and operational.

Consider an alarm or immobiliser approved for motorhomes.

Park smartly – wherever possible:

Park in a locked garage or secure compound
Use driveways where the vehicle is visible
Park with wheels turned toward a wall or obstruction

Remove valuables and avoid leaving keys inside or near the vehicle.

Be alert to suspicious activity, especially unknown people taking interest in vehicles or asking unusual questions.
